Because my concept revolved around the placement of communal spaces at every other level, it was important that I showcased the usage of each and every communal space. Thus, I decided to do an isometric diagram of the twelve communal spaces, so that it would be easier to visualise the arrangement and purpose of each space. I also rendered each communal space to show its spatial planning and how its usage was maximised.

The way the volumes are stacked creates interesting voids and shapes in the structure, and I wanted to accentuate these features by outlining the building with vertical and horizontal wooden fins that were stark against the otherwise white facade.

I did not want to compromise the clarity of the volumes by placing excessive fenestrations on the facade and hence decided to overcome the issue of privacy with a privacy-fog system that also doubled as a photovoltaic system.

I used mountboard to construct my model and acrylic to demarcate the windows and glass panels. I felt that the sturdiness of the mountboard would be suitable for such a complicated design, and the absence of texture would give the form of the building more prominence. The laser cutting process took around 6 hours as the balustrades were very intricate to cut.
