The Detailed Design Review required us to examine our design in greater detail, considering how the elements of the facade, walls, floors and ceilings came together.

 

We were also required to consider and plan the drainage system of the highrise building, calculating the top levels, inverted levels and gradients of the inspection chambers and apron drains, as well as locating the rainwater downpipes and rainwater outlets on each floor, including the roof.

 

Through the bathroom detail, not only were we given the opportunity to design a bathroom, we were also exposed to how wet areas of a residence are waterproofed to prevent water damage and leakage.

We were also tasked to consider the floor finishes and tile layout for our units and communal spaces (as can be seen in the part plan). This exercise allowed us to closely examine a small section of our building and choose the appropriate materials for our design.
